This piece is meant to be a bit chaotic which is why the shadows are that way. The face is also meant to be mostly in shadow. When I use red on an otherwise stark drawing it tends to represent passion or aggression or both. Love is powerful. And hate is powerful. And sometimes some people have both inside of them. They hate what they love. And they destroy what they love. At the same time wanting to keep what they love, even as they destroy it. Many times you never see that. You see the face but you do not see the chaotic shadows of their existence. Not until they bleed that out onto those around them.

Why do you hate what you love? You keep all that darkness inside until you bleed that pain onto those around you. Until you destroy what you love, even as you long to keep it.
